If you’re looking for a church home in our area, we'd love for you to join us on a Sunday morning. You can plan your visit here.
KIDS
And we think your kids will love our church! We want to create a place where the entire family can belong and learn to follow Jesus.
GROUPS
There is a place for you here. You’ll find Community Groups are an easy place to get connected and meet lifelong friends!
Have questions? We have the answers!
We gather at:
Sovereign Shores Baptist Church (formerly Water’s Edge Church)
4141 Holland Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452
Look for our building and friendly directional signs when you drive in. Need help finding us? Call us at 757‑467‑5864 or email info@shoresvb.com.
Our Sunday Gathering begins at 10:30 AM.
Before that, we offer Core Seminars from 9:15 to 10:10 AM—a great way to grow deeper in your faith.
We have parking available in our lot on our campus. It is not uncommon for out lot to fill up. A parking attendant will be available to assist you. If it is raining, some of our greeters will assist you with an umbrella.
There are two buildings located on our grounds:
The main "Worship Center" and "The Oasis."
The Oasis building is used primarily for:
Children's Ministry on Sunday (birth - 5th grade)
Student Ministry on Wednesday (6th - 12th grade)
Yes! During Core Seminars and the Gathering, we offer engaging programming for infants through grade 5. Our trained leaders deliver age-appropriate Bible lessons, fun activities, and a safe, caring environment. All of our volunteers over the age of 18 have been background checked.
Dress is pretty casual. You might stand out if you wear a suit and tie, although you are welcome to do so! We think "what's on the inside" is much more important, however, we do encourage modesty.
A Sunday at Sovereign Shores starts with Core Seminars—think theological training and discussion. Then we move into the Sunday Gathering at 10:30 AM, featuring doctrinally rich music, a Gospel-centered message, responsive Scripture readings, the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper (not every week), and friendly community. Total service time is about an hour and fiften minutes.
We believe growth happens best in community. We call our small groups “Community Groups”—they meet in various locations throughout the week. We run three 10 week sessions of community groups per year. Sign up online at SSBC.life.
Serving is part of who we are—whether it's greeting guests, tech & media, worship, children’s ministry, outreach, or facilities. As a first step, we'd love for you to attend our Membership Matters class to learn more about the church, its values, and our commitment to one another.
