NEW HERE
All are welcome. If you’re looking for a church home in the area, we'd love for you to join us on a Sunday morning. You can plan your visit here.
KIDS
Our Children's Ministry provides a safe, gospel-centered environment for children so their parents can attend services with peace of mind.
GROUPS
You’ll find our Community Groups to be an easy place to get connected, make friends, and dig deeper into the sermon text.
Here are some questions you may have if you're planning to visit:
We gather at:
Sovereign Shores Baptist Church (formerly Water’s Edge Church): 4141 Holland Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452
Look for our building and directional signs when you drive in. Need help finding us? Call us at 757‑467‑5864 or email info@shoresvb.com.
Our Sunday Gathering begins at 10:30 AM. We also teach Christian education classes, called Core Seminars, from 9:15 to 10:10 AM. (There are no Core Seminars in July, August, and December).
We have parking available in our lot on our campus. It is not uncommon for our lot to fill up. A parking attendant will be available to assist you. If it is raining, some of our greeters will assist you with an umbrella.
There are two buildings located on our grounds:
The main "Worship Center" and "The Oasis."
The Oasis building is used primarily for:
Children's Ministry on Sunday (birth - 5th grade)
Student Ministry on Wednesday (6th - 12th grade)
Absolutely. During Core Seminars and our Worship Gathering, children's ministry is available for infants through grade 5. Our trained volunteers lead age-appropriate Bible lessons, activities, and provide a safe, caring environment. All of our volunteers over the age of 18 have undergone a background check.
Typical dress is pretty casual. You might stand out if you wear a suit and tie, although you are welcome to do so. We encourage modesty.
A Sunday at Sovereign Shores begins with Core Seminars throughout the year minus the months of July, August, and December. (think theological training and discussion). Then we move into the Sunday Gathering at 10:30 AM which consists of doctrinally rich music, a live expositional sermon, responsive Scripture readings, and the ordinances of baptism (as occasion may require) or the Lord's Supper (once per month). Total service time is usually about an hour and fiften minutes.
We are affiliated with the Pillar Network, the SBC of Virginia, and the Southern Baptist Convention. Learn more about our affiliations here.
Both Christ and the Apostle Paul pointed us towards a recognizable membership for our encouragement, our protection, and our instruction. We seek to carry out this vision through our four-step process by which to join SSBC: Membership Classes, Membership Interview, Elder Recommendation, and Congregational Affirmation. You can learn more by clicking here.
We call our small groups “Community Groups”—they meet at various locations and times throughout the week. We run three 10 week sessions of community groups per year. Signups occur online by filling out this form.
